Publication & Presentation Opportunity @ GOAT 2020

Are you conducting research on open agricultural technologies?!

We’re organizing a special session at GOAT 2020 to provide researchers in academia, industry, farming, and other sectors an opportunity to present special topics on Open Agricultural Technologies.

:goat: Use this forum thread to find collaborators if you don’t want to write alone. @sudokita will likely organize a remote writing group and a subsequent web call to share more information as needed.

Here’s how it will work:

  1. Apply to attend & present at GOAT 2020 and mention that you’d like to present your research in Question that asks “Would you like to present at GOAT Demos & Stories or the GOAT Research session?”. Application deadline is March 14 2020.

  2. Submit a paper to the peer-reviewed, Open Ag Tech special issue of the Technologies journal. The issue editor, Joshua Pierce, has invited us to submit full papers, short communications, and case studies. If you have any questions, ping @sudokita. The RFP is at the end of this post and the final manuscript submission deadline is Dec 31 2020.

  3. If your paper is accepted to the Technologies journal AND you present at GOAT 2020, you will be eligible for one of five publication fee waivers (worth $1000).

  4. ???

  5. Joy, publications++, open science, citations, collaborations galore!

Technologies Journal Request for Papers

The aim of this Special Issue is to provide original research in (1) low-cost agricultural technology designs; (2) performance validation and evaluation studies of newly developed agriculture technology, including openly accessible reference standards; and (3) review articles on the current status of open source agricultural technology and their applications.

We are especially interested in submissions covering open source technologies for:

  • Monitoring soil and water quality;
  • Irrigation and water use efficiency;
  • Agriculture machinery at the small and large scale;
  • Agriculture-focused remote sensing;
  • Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for agriculture.

All the participants of Gathering for Open Agricultural Technology (GOAT 2020), on 7–10 June 2020, in New York, USA and their colleagues are encouraged to submit to this Special Issue.

Manuscript submission deadline: December 31, 2020.
