Then we’ll discuss these HCD tools in the context of a specific project that’s building a Conservation Cost Database (CCD) for NRCS employees to support producers. We’re excited to invite Nikki Stief as a guest HCD expert to share about best practices and case studies.
Nikki Stief is a user researcher and service designer working at the intersection of technology, innovation and social impact. Much of her work has been focused on agriculture and sustainability: her experience in the sector includes leading user research at Indigo, an agriculture/sustainability tech company in the U.S., designing a mobile app for strawberry farmers with Nuup, a Mexican agtech social enterprise, designing a voice-based agriculture marketplace for smallholder farmers with Viamo, and helping the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) identify opportunities for digital schools in the U.S. government’s food security portfolio around the world. She’s based in Berkeley, CA and has a MA in International Policy from Stanford and BA in Peace and Conflict Studies from UC Berkeley.
