Welcome and Framing (10 minutes)​

  • Attendee introductions in the chat
  • Overview of the conventions and standards effort. Primary objectives:
    • “Why this standard matters” case examples: pilot cases with DFC, BD4D, and CFC; output: template
    • Adoption document review activity — pilot process on DFC, BD4D, and CFC; outputs: improved documentation, process for self-assessment toward documentation improvement
    • Ecosystem Map — inventory of conventions and standards developed or utilized by the community and ag tech broadly; outputs: pilot data model/inventory snapshot, “Where to Begin” guide
  • Framing question: Are we doing the right thing? Are the right people in the room?

Case Examples Introduction (20 minutes)​

  • Introduce the three cases template and case examples (Data Food Consortium, Better Deal for Data, Common Farm COnvention)
  • Recruit participants for the document review sessions

Ecosystem Map (10 minutes)​

  • Review the standards ecosystem data model and inventory
  • Review outline for the “Where to Begin” guide
  • Input opportunity: suggest specifications that should be included in the inventory

Closing Discussion (20 minutes)​

  • Are we doing the right things? Who else should be in the room?
  • What other standards should be explored or created?

Thanks to everybody who came today! Here is a link to the slides.

We invite the community to participate in the documentation review of Common Farm Conventions, Better Deal for Data, and Data Food Consortium Standard, during which participants evaluate whether they find standard suitable for adoption. You may participate in the documentation review and feedback session for one, two, or all three of the standards. For participation in the process for one standard you will:

  • 1 hr documentation review and suitability evaluation
  • 1 hr community feedback session
  • $120 compensation upon completion of both documentation review and feedback session

Please review the slides and the sign up forms for each standard for more details. Please note, there is ample but finite funding available. Once the budget is used, participating will become an uncompensated volunteer commitment. We will notify applicants before they participate if funding runs out.
