AI in Ag Call: May 8 2026

Hey folks, AI in Ag call will be happening today at 2pm EST. Meeting link is here: Jitsi Meet .

Open to potential topics (please post below). Right now it’s:

(15m) - Updates and sharing. How are you using AI? What’s new news, what’s useful to share? What new workflows are you using?

(45m) - Pick a topic and run. We may split into groups depending on what the group wants. Here’s some options:

  • Pair Code. One person can vibe code and others can watch and learn.

  • Project walk through. If there’s a project someone wants to present, get feedback on, etc.

  • Plan something together. Something you want to do together, get others to engage, or want to plan it together!

I have items we can jump into in case no one else has things. Here’s my items in case we want to run with them.

  • Let’s Contribute to FarmOS Conservation Planner! One person vibe code, others get set up, to contribute to FarmOS Conservation Planner! GitHub - farmier/farm_rcd: farmOS Conservation Planner · GitHub

  • Workflows Workflows Workflows. Let’s make a list of potential workflows we could built out, using journeykit.ai. I showed the Needs Assessment process I designed last week, but would love to build out more workflows and begin sharing them.

But please add yours below, or just show up!

Notes

Juliet, Kevin, Greg, Fosten, Dorn, Matt B_

Intros (your name, where you are in the world, what you run, any interesting ai related updates this last week, and what you want to do today)

Juliet, CA - using Purdue server resources for her work work - using whisper ai to transcribe. Whisper is really awesome - makes lots of errors but helps her narrow in. Light scripts + related.

Kevin, NW Wash - using AI to stitch together client ecosystems to do things that humans needed to be in the loop. Lots of ‘workflows’. Has a family bot also in his house - has really loved that in conversations between his family to do practical stuff in the house. Got a mac to try out local models, etc.

Dorn, NH - building on-farm systems on device (raspbi 5) on postgres and sqlite db’s. Trying out local models. Claude code has been amazing at debugging that process and structures. He’s locally hosting litefarm, farmos, landpks, SSURGO, plants db, etc.

Fosten - manages his own servers, active in farmos, here to learn!

We talked about what the structure is of managing these things yourself.

  • Whats the server and what’s the ai… same machine or different? How do they relate?
  • Dorn talked about the knowledge concordance project as his motivation, an alternative archival infrastructure.

Juliet asked about self-hosting - she’s thinking about this for GOAT (especially existing Google ecosystem)… what have you (kevin) learned that we might want to know.

We went around and everyone said things they felt gave them the most gains by also using ai. Lots of 10x stories, but we also joked that sometimes AI makes you a 1x developer

If you missed it join next time - it’s biweekly on Fridays 2pm EST

Greetings,

My apologies for missing the AI in Ag Call.

I was in class until about 1432 on the 8th.

I tried FarmOS two years ago and liked it.

Please keep me in the loop regarding AI in Ag Calls and FarmOS projects.

Thank you in advance.

Michael Lewis

Sorry to have missed! I’m having trouble telling which of the cal invites corresponds to a call or not. Are these still happening every-other-week?
