Hi all, in this previous post I called for contributors to support the GOAT booth at the Pasa and CANVAS conferences (see that post for details).
We have raised quite a lot!
CANVAS has $1245 with another $500 expected, totaling $1745 of $2750 needed. Thanks LiteFarm, Our Sci, NAPDC, and FarmOS!!
Pasa has $267, with another $275 expected, totaling $542 of $950 needed. Thanks Tech Matters, Our Sci, and FarmOS!
Based on what’s there and what’s expected, we will be about 500 dollars short on each proposal for a total need of $1000.
My ask to GOAT community: Could we apply up to $1500 from GOAT to make up the remainder if needed? (it’s possible we get additional contributions from other sources, so it may be less than $1500 also).
Where’s the money coming from?
- we have $600 left over funding from reimbursing attendance to 2024 CAFF conference, a very similar intention from that money, which could naturally be applied here.
- additionally, we do have remaining funds from last years conference, as well as a very generous open donation from 11th Hour of $25,000. So there are general funds available but using them for this purpose should have a discussion or general approval from the community
Source of funds: $600 from leftover CAFF Conference funding, and $900 from the general GOAT fund.
Please vote below or to comment or provide alternative ideas post it as a response. Thank you!!!
We need to spend the funds by Oct 1, so please respond by Monday Sept 29.
- Yes - Fund up to $1500 for the GOAT booth to go to CANVAS and Pasa conferences.
- No, don’t fund it

Greg, being relatively new to the group, I’m not familiar with how to donate to the two funds you mentioned. What’s the best way for me to do that? Or are there standard membership dues/fees that I should be paying? Thanks! Julie Suhr Pierce

Well thanks @runner.julie !! Below are links below to the Open Collective page. Open Collective is a way to publicly and transparently collect funds for a specific purpose (like these conferences).
It uses GOAT’s fiscal host (NMCC) to hold the money. I’m noticing that the links I made in my post took you to general project page, but not directly to initiate a contribution (sorry!).
The links below will immediately progress through making a contribution. It’s possible you’ll need or want to create a login for Open Collective first, but feel free to try it without!
Pasa - Contribute via Open Collective
CANVAS Contribute via Open Collective
Thank you so much!

Just to reply - we did it - we’ll !
.
Thanks to everyone who contributed.
Anyone who has a project that you want at either event, please do let us know and send us those materials!!!
Hey, I have CANVAS Notes I still need to get up here, but just letting folks know that Pasa is coming up Feb 5 - 6 (link).
I’ll be there with the GOAT booth, and also doing a exhibitor hall session about FarmOS: Conservation Planner. Will be collecting some survey (or at least anecdotal) survey info about demand for this as well.
Anyone else planning to attend or want to meet up there? If so, holler!
Also, if anyone has booth materials they would like to share or have me talk about, please reach out to me so I can both receive them and know how to talk about them ahead of time.
Thanks all!
