Unconference Session: Help Devs Learn What Farmers Need / Understand Farm Life

  • Aligning Incentives - helps create return on investment
  • UX Designers - interview end users
  • pay interviewees
  • Curate experience , working on a farm takes training
  • maybe shadowing could work too
  • If someones using the system already they usually want to give feedback if you just ask
  • Self selection
    • Actively boarding the pool to make sure you’re getting different perspectives (*ex folks that don’t want to use tech)
    • Maybe expand to grower next works
  • AI Development – will it help things shift to meet the needs of the user
    • Information grouped by context
    • Recognizes data by category as it coming in - how does it change for a sheep farmer vs a vegetable farmer
  • Augmented reality
    • Interphase changes for different times/ places
    • Could help predict to meet needs
  • Self selection
    • A form of consent
    • A tension of “technology they don’t know they want” idea in the lense of being inclusive
    • Positions aren’t built in my experience, mostly because these things cost money
    • There’s also literally - they may not know what to ask for , don’t know what the possibilities could be
    • Product centric design – specific , vs crop planning which is more of a genre of a theme which is where a walk through would come in and a decision mapping plan
