Webinar #18: Exploring the Potential of Anonymization for Data-Driven Innovation in Agriculture
April 22nd, 2024 01:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)
via Zoom (link provided upon registration)
Presenter: Val Kovalsky, Nave Analytics
Summary: The agricultural sector is experiencing a significant rise in data generation and sharing due to the widespread use of precision agriculture technologies. Slowly, farmers begin to use data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance their decision-making, leading to improved crop yields and sustainable practices. The slow pace of progress for data driven solutions in agriculture is attributed to data privacy concerns amongst most producers. To address this issue, Nave Analytics and the academic team from University of Nebraska Lincoln and South Dakota State University propose a joint project on simultaneous anonymization of producer equipment data with contextual information from various sources. The project aims to simulate several anonymization processes, providing quantitative assessments of privacy risks and data value preservation. The above analytics will be complimented with an educational campaign for agricultural producers and industry focus group discussions, fostering data-driven sustainable agriculture. The project envisions shaping the national agriculture data framework, emphasizing trust, education, and the advantages of data-driven solutions for economic and environmental sustainability
Format: Presentation with open Q&A followed by discussion
Objective: Attendees will learn data privacy and security in agriculture, and specific challenges related to data anonymization and sharing.
