Hey All - we’re trying to not wait till the last minute to go to the Pasa (Feb 2026) and CANVAS (Nov 2025) conferences. Here’s the deal:
Pasa, Feb 2026 (Contribute on Open Collective!) - $800, includes a conference pass, and a booth (slightly larger than the small one). Must fund by Sept 8 for discount!
- Will also have a presentation in the exhibitor hall, primarily for FarmOS and OFN at this point, but point is we’ll get some extra conversations from that.
CANVAS, Nov 2025 (Contribute on Open Collective) - $2600, includes 2 registrations. Must fund by Oct 1 for discount!
- I know CANVAS is a lot, but it’s a huge conference. I’m going to attend anyway as will Erika from Point Blue, so we’ll have support. I’m also presenting there, and this includes 2 additional passes if folks want to attend, and discounts at local hotels.
Who’s interested and would find this valuable? @Divya David Thomas @mstenta Also @jesustorres (regardless we should get materials from you and get trained up so we can talk about Unmio and Unmio Mobile!) @sudokita also @kirsten also anyone in the hardware space @FarmerDave or others? Are you wanting to do a booth at CANVAS (in SLC)? Or just attend?

@julietnpn I’ll be attending anyway because of the FarmOS: Planning project with Erika. I would love to have one more person come at least to man the booth, though I would also help man the booth too. It’s a big conference so I think many projects would get a lot more visibility, and we’d learn a lot more about what other markets we may not typically interact with would want.
Specifically, CANVAS is trisocieties, so agronomists, academics, industry researchers, soil scientists and soil labs, larger farms or research farms would all be in attendance. Actually I think @aislinnpearson this could be a good place to talk about the FarmOS: Research kind of modifications… @mstenta what do you think? Also @hwittman might be a good place to talk about LiteFarm as research gathering platform as well and maybe show the integration.
Anyway, it’s a big conference and IMO worth it, and whoever goes is going to learn a lot both about what’s in the GOAT ecosystem, how to talk about it, and what the interests / needs are.
@todrobbins that might work great! This may include a ticket if you’re interested/willing to help out at the booth and learn, depends on who else pipes up and if we get enough support of course.

Amazing! So we’ve got willing booth bunnies.
But we can’t have a booth for the bunnies unless we pay for the booth! Anyone willing to throw money into the hat? And remember we can make sure to bring materials and discuss your project!!

@gbathree Lets add the topic of funding these GOAT booths to the agenda of the Organizing call today at 2pm ET. There should probably be an open collective “project” to collect the funds.

FYI updated posts with the goal amounts ($2750 and $950 respectively).
Update esp @hwittman and @todrobbins if you’d like to help exhibit, there are 2 passes that come along with the exhibitor sign up which someone can have. I already have my pass covered and will also be there. I think willing contributors and exhibitors can have those, first come first serve, assuming we can raise the money for those.
But first we must fund!!! So please share, I think this could be very helpful for many organizations!
If folks have questions or want more info about the value, feel free to have them call or email me, happy to explain why IMO this is worth doing.

I think I can make this work to help fund the booth, esp if we can organize an ad-hoc focus group/consultation session/sessions on our LiteFarm exit to community scenarios, good way to pass the time in the booth!

Awesome, thanks @hwittman . @Steve-TechMatters and @mstenta and @julietnpn (for GOAT) the deadline for saving $150 on the Pasa conference is today(!). So if you can contribute, today is the day so I can get us officially signed up.
Our Sci put in $150 already, so that’s a start.
I don’t know if the deadline passed, but Tech Matters can kick in $150 for Pasa too. How did CANVAS (a lot more expensive?) get funded?

it’s going to be a team effort for both… I’m hoping that @ErikaFosterSoils might convince point blue to share the booth - so they put in 1300 and GOAT community has to cover the other 1300. I did ask about non-profit rates but no dice.
But we do have a lot of orgs… so if we get 5 orgs as 300 dollars or so, we could cover CANVAS if we get Point Blue to offset the other part… so anyway, we just have to see how it goes.
