take aways:
- failure is a term that evokes discomfort, reframing can help some folks
- failing in service to our communities is difficult to carry, sharing in safe spaces help
- celebrating steps in the process is one way to structure a system to shift away from failure based thinking
- ideally failure happens in a supportive low-risk context where failure is a normal supported part of a learning - not the case for farmers, where failure can be catastrophic
- people depend on the things we build & the services we provide, it can be tempting to ‘over’ help and over extend ourselves
- overcommitting downsides include a) an inability to deliver or b) limits opportunities for those who could/should be stepping up
- prioritizing is important to help enforce healthy boundaries
- processes need to include extra time and support for a) new members as they culturally assimilate and b) reflection and re-versioning / re-iterating
- you can’t work for free forever
- give grace and space to fail
- sometimes you start something that you don’t get to see finished
- trust the people
